For our BA2 group work collection “+358442746036” we studied the history of aviation and did research on aviation gear from the past.
In the project I focused on CLO3D shaping/draping and patternmaking.
The garments that I made from start to finish were the electric cable structured Dyneema jacket from look 3 and all of look 4, which contains electric cable structured leather jacket and upcycled military washbag trousers.
Our visual research consisted of photos taken at an old abandoned airport, and we focused on the colors and textures of the airport area. Then we visited a Finnish government-owned wardrobe department and collected workwear that had a good patina.
The garment research developed from a ventilation underlayer suit to more outerwear for aviation. We used details from pocket constructions, zippers, materials, etc.
